John Turner files for election to House District 58

PENDLETON, Ore — John Turner has filed for election for state representative of House District 58, which encompasses communities in Umatilla, Union and Wallowa counties. Turner, R-Pendleton, retired as president of Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton in June, after serving the previous nine years. In 2003, Turner retired from the United States Marine Corps as a colonel with 28 years of active service. “I look forward to using my experience to work with the citizens and community leaders throughout House District 58,” Turner said. “I believe there is more work to be done to improve Oregon’s business environment, education system, and maintaining our commitment to seniors.” During Turner’s 38 years of public service, he said he has learned how to manage policy issues on a variety of levels. “John Turner will be a great advocate for House District 58. He understands each community has individual needs and has already demonstrated himself as a successful advocate for Eastern Oregon in Salem,” said Rep. Greg Smith,R-Heppner. Turner has received the endorsements of Rep. Bob Jenson, Rep. Greg Smith, Sen. Bill Hansell and former Sen. David Nelson.
