The Key to the Survival of the United States

It would, no doubt. be easier on my blood pressure if I didn’t spend so much time listening to the various news anchors cry and whine about what may befall the U.S. if the Big Three auto companies fail because of their ineptitude, or outright stupidity, in how they have conducted their business. Also, the news media are concerned about what would happen if this, or that, financial giant crashes, and will we all be able to survive?

I think that the way things are now in this country should not be surprising to anyone, especially when the one name you never hear in all these frantic ruminations on our survivability is God’s name (unless it is used in vain).

Where is the fact that one’s faith in God is the most precious possession a person can have and without it you will not succeed? My people, back in the 1800′s, were nothing special except that they obviously had enough of that faith in God that they left their homes in Asheville, North Carolina and in Knox, Kentucky to emigrate to Oregon arriving in the Salem/Silverton area in 1846.

The only thing you could depend on in those days was your faith in God. There were no Master Cards or other plastic saviors, who often turn from savior to devil, and no Federal Reserve to manipulate the interest rate. In those days, if you needed a new horse or mule or oxen you just had to use your own God given ingenuity. Most of the “trails” were not friendly, as in South West Airlines friendly skies, and you had to deal with the fact the a move in the wrong direction could have devastating consequences not only to you but to everyone with you.

When you think about these courageous people and the daunting tasks they undertook to cross this entire continent in those days, there should be no doubt in your mind that if the lack of faith exhibited in the U.S. today was present back then, this part of the country would still be inhabited by the various Indian Tribes. The descendants of the people with no faith would be huddled up in North Carolina and Kentucky.

If the American people could see their way clear to put their faith in God instead of Obama-McCain-Master Card and the Federal Reserve, all the trouble created by both our disbelief and these man-made institutions would very possibly go away. But, history does repeat itself and I believe that we are looking at the ending of United States History as a free country.
